Fresh Wave is back, and Annabelle is joining Johnny as our new co-host!

In this episode, we get to know Annabelle, from her love of Genesis to the theological conversations she’s always ready to have. We also share what’s coming this season: shorter episodes throughout the month and longer conversations to dig deeper into each topic.

First up is friendship. We’ll explore what makes a good friend, how our friendships change through different stages of life, and what they can teach us about our relationship with God.

Fresh Wave Returns With New Host

What's up everybody? We are back at it here in the studio. It feels great to be back in here with a camera in my face, and we are looking forward to another fresh wave series, and we got a new wave coming in with new conversations, new topics, but most importantly, here in the studio, we have a new host. Let's go. Annabelle, welcome. Not an unfamiliar face here on the Fresh Wave. So we are excited to bring a multi-platinum, multi-returning guest to the show. So Annabelle, welcome.

Yeah, it's it's good to be here. It's good to be back.

We are looking forward to our new host, and you follow a long line of wonderful hosts that brought thought-provoking questions, ideas into the Fresh Wave, but we are on to our new, our third host of the Fresh Wave. And Annabelle, we can't wait to see what this new wave has in store for us.

Annabelle’s Genesis Obsession

So uh let's get to know Annabelle a little bit. Uh so just first thing, uh tell us something about yourself.

Anything, literally anything. The most random fact to the most deepest part of your heart.

Wow. I was not prepared to be at just anything. Okay, um my favorite book in the Bible is Genesis.

Genesis. By far.

By a landslide. If you open up my Bible, it's a great place to start. Covered in like, I don't know if you can see, hold on. Covered in like I have a lot to say. So you're right instead of it. Ask me about yeah, yeah. Ask me about Genesis.

Very cool. Uh okay, here's one that I'm excited that to to know the answer to this question. So Annabelle is very intelligent, she's very wise, she loves to get into the the nitty-gritty of God's word. And one question I have for you is if you were to debate any theological, you know, common debate that takes place, which is one you're like, I would love to talk about this any

Wow. Um, probably Okay, these are both interconnected. I really like talking about Calvinism versus Armenia's, you know, the classic. Um, also about just kind of the early church, how it started, and like the philosophies during the time and how that influenced even modern Christian beliefs we have today. Even like ask me about like Gnosticism or like Augustine and like his beliefs. So yeah, a lot to unpack.

Her Deconstructed Podcast And New Format

Um, I do have another podcast. There's only one episode out. Maybe we'll post more in the future. Stay tuned. But I do have another podcast called Deconstructed, which is going into um kind of the philosophies behind the Bible, mythologies that tie into it, mimetic theory, that sort of stuff. So yeah, technically, this is not my first time being a podcast host, but it is my first time being a co-host. So that's pretty cool.

Yeah, very cool. So how this new season is gonna look for us is each month we're gonna be dropping some shorter what would you call them?

Annabelle 3:50

Little little bite-sized podcast.

Johnny 3:51

Little bite-sized podcasts. Yeah, yeah. We'll be dropping a few of those each week, and then the end of the month, we're gonna be dropping long form, buckle up.

I'm so excited. These are gonna be so good.

We might hit triple digits on that time stamp over there. Maybe if we get Tim's way, we will. Uh so we're looking forward to that and being able to really just dig deep into some of these topics that maybe we've brushed slightly before. We want to really get into God's word and grow theologically into knowing.

I think I just said a lot of words that I don't know if that made sense. Uh, but we want to grow in our faith and we want to grow in our theology, and I think we're gonna do that hopefully pretty well here with what we bring to the table. So uh let's give a quick little teaser for the first one that will be coming out soon.

Friendship Theme And Being Virtuous

And Annabelle, give us just a quick little snapshot.

All right, so our first theme is gonna be talking about friendship. What does it mean to be a good friend? What are the types of friends we come across? And how does our way of going about friendship affect how we befriend God and how we perceive God befriending us? So a lot of great, a lot of great conversation topics, how to become a better friend, how to kind of look inward, see what we do with our friends, and see if that's a trait of a good friend. You know, are we using them for what they can provide for us? Are we just using them for fun? Are we truly being keyword virtuous? We're gonna be using that word a lot, so stay tuned.

Yeah, I think it's a great topic, and I think a topic that we think really only primarily uh relates to maybe like middle schoolers, high schoolers, where we're talking about friends who you hang out with, blah, blah, blah. But it's a timeless topic to be talking about. Because as you go through life, you're still gonna be going through that. You know, you get into college all over again. You graduate, you move somewhere new, you have a new job all over again. You start a family, and you you your kids are going to school. All right, now I'm making more friends, and then you know, that just progresses and progresses. So, you're like throughout your whole life, you really should be evaluating, thinking through friendships, and I think this is a a great topic to get into to kick
